The company was founded to commercialize technology developed at UC Berkeley while Algen Biotechnologies CEO Chun-Hao Hung was a postdoc in the lab of Jennifer Doudna, professor of biochemistry, biophysics and structural biology and Nobel Laureate in Chemistry.
