Bioscale was founded to commercialize technology on applications of ultrasonic lamb waves in sensors and devices for chemical and physical sensing, invented during the PhD dissertation of Stuart Wenzel (Berkeley PhD 1992), in the lab of UC Berkeley Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences Professor Richard M. White. In 2016, the company changed it name to ProterixBio, to reflect a new strategic direction centered on high value clinical applications including diagnostics products and disease management services.
