Industry Sponsored Institute Intellectual Property

Intellectual property rights (such as patent rights in inventions or copyrights on software or data) in Master Agreements are generally consistent with smaller-scale sponsored research agreements at UC and with federal, state and University of California policies including patents, copyrights, trademarks, management of research tools, licensing and equity.

IPIRA’s Industry Alliances Office (IAO) and the Office of Technology Licensing (OTL) staff can advise on a range of options for managing and commercializing intellectual property rights that are created under the Institute and the rights and responsibilities of visitors from the company/sponsor.
