In an effort to reduce costs, increase efficiency, and maintain strong relationships with our outside IP counsel, we have outlined the UC Berkeley OTL's preferred legal practices in a letter to our attorneys. If you have any feedback, please contact the OTL.

Guidance for IP law firms who want to work with the UC Berkeley OTL:
The UC Berkeley OTL works with a wide variety of law firms (including large, midsize and small firms -- but not individual practitioners) to secure intellectual property protection for innovations developed by UC Berkeley researchers.

All law firms that work with any UC campus must be approved by the Office of the General Counsel at the UC Office of the President. To get approved by the Office of the General Counsel at the UC Office of the President, your law firm will have to submit the following:

• General information about your law firm (including website)
• Professional biographies of your firm's principle attorneys
• Information regarding your attorneys' rates
• Certificate confirming your firm's malpractice insurance

If you want your law firm to be considered for future IP work with the the UC Berkeley OTL, then please complete this Law Firm Questionnaire, and email it to the OTL.

If the OTL wants to begin working with your law firm, then we will follow-up with you.
